Pell City’s diverse economy, strong independent school system, and mild winters make it a popular choice for families. School and work take time on weekdays, so many households opt for time together on weekends. The following Pell City attractions can add fun to your weekend and are great for the whole family. 

  1. Pell City Lakeside Park: Reconnect With Nature

Pell City Lakeside Park is a 65-acre space on the banks of Logan Martin Lake. It’s the ideal place for reconnecting with the natural world and unwinding with your loved ones. The pavilions are perfect for picnicking, or you could bring a blanket and enjoy your lunch under the shade of a tree. The playground is a big hit with kids. If they’ve got some excess energy, hit the trails. You can walk or bring bikes and explore on two wheels. Bass fishing from the pier is another popular pastime. When the weather is warm, swimming in the lake will cool you down. 

 

Pell City Lakeside Park is at 2801 Stemley Bridge Road, opposite the Civic Center. You can enjoy its facilities for free all year round. 

  1. Premiere Cinemas Entertainment Center: Movie Magic and More

Pell City’s Premiere Cinemas, with its seven screens showing the latest blockbusters, is much more than a movie theater. This massive megaplex also has a bowling alley and video game arcade. When hunger pangs strike, hit the cafe for snacks and light meals. 

Premiere Cinemas Entertainment Center is at 1200 Vaughan Lane. They open early and close late every day. 

  1. Pell City Public Library: More Than Just Books

The kids might not be keen at first, but Pell City Public Library has some great activities for the whole family. Of course, you can check out books to unlock your imagination. However, Pell City Public Library also has an exciting calendar of family events. Yoga and meditation classes on Mindful Mondays at 4 p.m. help visitors of all ages build strength and unwind. Small children love Storytime every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. The library also hosts family film nights and game sessions. Look out for the holiday programs offering more family fun. 

Pell City Public Library is at 1000 Bruce Etheredge Parkway, Suite 100. It opens at 9 a.m. every day but Sunday. Check the library’s events calendar to see what’s going on. 

  1. Center for Education and Performing Arts: Enjoy the Arts

The Center for Education and Performing Arts (CEPA) regularly shows family-friendly productions. These theatrical shows get children excited about the arts while entertaining parents, too. As a 400-seat theater, it’s intimate enough to make all audience members feel like they’re part of the production. 

CEPA is at 25 Williamson Drive. It doesn’t have its own box office. However, you can buy tickets for any performance online or get them at the door before the show. 

Whether you’ve got small children or challenging teens, these Pell City activities should inspire some family outings. Birmingham is close by, but these attractions prove you don’t need to leave Pell City to have fun.
