Enjoy a Beautiful Summer Day at These Pell City Spots

Summer is upon us once again and that means longer days filled with sunshine, fresh air, and fun. You might have kids at home looking for some ways to occupy the days ahead with some summertime magic, or maybe you’re looking for something to do with friends or loved ones for a fun-filled weekend. Either way, enjoy a beautiful summer day at these Pell City spots.  

 

Check Out the Splash Pad 

 

Pell City has a great City Splash Pad that the kids are sure to love. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday with hours varying by day. Admission does cost $3 per child, ages three and over, but there’s plenty for them to do here. There are play structures, slides, and plenty of other water activities to keep the kids, and even you, cool on those hot summer days. They also have pavilions to rent if you’d like to pack a picnic lunch and make an entire day out of it. Follow up with ice cream at Baskin Robbins or Sonic Drive-In to top off the perfect summer day. The City Splash Pad is located at 2807 Stemley Bridge Road in Pell City.  

 

 

Spend the Day at Lakeside Park 

 

Another great place to spend a summer day is Lakeside Park. It’s located on over 65 beautiful acres with plenty of things to do to occupy your day. There are picnic areas available for no charge, as well as pavilions with individual restrooms for rent. They also have a great fishing lake, playground, and several hiking trails. Find Lakeside Park at 2801 Stemley Bridge Road in Pell City.  

 

Visit Bryant Vineyard 

 

If you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend a summer afternoon date then head over to Bryant Vineyard. This is a great couple’s adventure, or perhaps you’d enjoy grabbing a group of friends to spend the day here. They offer a complimentary wine tasting and the chance to pick your own fresh fruit and vegetables. Try their ghost chili peppers if you love spicy foods. They have several selections of their special award-winning muscadine wines available for purchase as well so you can take some home to enjoy with dinner. They are located at 1454 Griffitt Bend Rd in Talladega, about a 15-minute drive.  

 

DeSoto Caverns 

 

For a fun day out, make your way over to DeSoto Caverns in Childersburg. It’s about a 30-minute drive one way, but is a great way to spend a summer afternoon. Each tour includes a show with sound, lasers, and lights and of course the guided visit through the caverns. There are also over 20 outside attractions such as a maze, crystal searches, gem panning, and wacky water golf. You can also try your hand at archery. Once you’re finished you can stop by the gift shop and pick up a souvenir to remember this unique attraction. Find them at 5181 DeSoto Caverns Parkway.
